Log Cabin Rental Information

The Sherwood Park Community Hall "Log Cabin" is operated by Sherwood Park Minor Baseball Association and is available for private rental.  This spacious facility is ideal for any type of meeting, gathering, event, party or social occasion.  The Log Cabin features ample parking and full kitchen facilities in a park setting.

Hall Amenities:

  • Has maximum seating for 210 people, with space for a DJ, band, or dance floor, to view;
  • There is a kitchen with a commercial cooler and two stoves and the kitchen is separated from the rest of the hall by a counter,
  • Tables and chairs.
  • Wheelchair accessable washrooms on main floor.

I am including information that will hopefully assist you in making your decision if the Sherwood Park Log Cabin is the right fit for you.

 

The Sherwood Park Log Cabin is located in the heart of Sherwood Park in the “Trees/Sherwood Heights ” District of Sherwood Park. It is a wonderful charming hall that is able to host a variety of different types of functions. The Sherwood Park Log Cabin has an upstairs and a downstairs. Rental of the Upper Hall does not include the Lower Hall. The lower hall is not for rent.

  • Access time to the hall is negotiable pending availability(please note that hourly rates are not available on the weekends, only full-day or full-weekend rentals will be entertained)
  • A Damage Deposit is required at the time of rental to secure the rental date.
    In order to secure a rental date a damage deposit is required no less than one week after booking the event date. The amount of damage deposit required is discussed at the time of rental.
  • No tentative bookings can be made and no holds will be placed on the hall. In addition to the paid damage deposit, the full amount of the rental costs is due no less than one month prior to the event date. The damage is fully refundable if all the conditions of the rental are met.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Should the event be canceled outside of ONE MONTH of the initial booking, HALF of the paid Damage deposit will be retained by the association for administration charges.

SECURITY/DAMAGE DEPOSIT - The FULL Security/Damage Deposit will be forfeited if the cancellation is made less than 6 months before the date of the scheduled Function. (ACTS OF GOD PREVAIL)  Refunds for cancellations will be made at the sole discretion of the Operator.  After a Function, the Security/Damage Deposit will be returned to the Renter within fourteen (14) days, less any applicable withholdings that may be kept for damages to the hall or for cleaning that has not been completed to specifications.

The upper hall, with a full residential-style kitchen, is ideal for bridal showers, weddings, banquets, reunions, parties, dances, craft fairs, and large meetings. Rentals at the Sherwood Park Log Cabin do not include designated parking spots in the parking lot, however, renters are permitted to use the parking lot. There is no overnight RV parking or trailers allowed.  The usage of the ball diamonds is not included in the rental. There is no designated inside or outside wedding ceremony space. Audiovisual - We do not supply nor have access to any audio-visual aids, such as microphones, projectors, or screens.

Seating Capacity for the Upper Hall is as follows:

Upper Hall is licensed for 210 for fixed Dining & Drinks (in my opinion 150 is the MAX for comfortable seating allowing space for a buffet and then a dance floor for a wedding-style reception)
270 with non-fixed seats & tables (social dance/stand-up reception)
310 with non-fixed seats and no tables (stand-up reception)

 

(Most comfortable size is up to and NOT to exceed 150 guests.  This amount allows for a dance floor and space for a DJ/band)

 

Amenities – We have 24 – 8ft’ X 3ft’ tables (rectangle) that comfortably seat 8 -10 people each, and 200 folding chairs.  We have kitchen facilities, wheelchair-accessible washrooms on the main floor (with another set of washrooms in the basement, the remainder of the basement is not a part of the rental), janitorial equipment and supplies, and a small podium.

 

Kitchen facilities - 2 residential stoves (reheating purposes only please as they are not vented outside), a commercial cooler, a residential sink, an apartment-size freezer to store ice, and plenty of counter space.  Coffee urns are available upon request. This is all included in the cost of the rental.

We do not offer anything in the way of kitchenware, small wares, dishes, cutlery or linens.  The renter is responsible to bring in whatever dishware and or linens that are required.

 

Caterer – The Log Cabin does not offer any catering services. Please feel free to source out your own caterer.

 

Alcohol – We do not charge a corkage fee.  All renters intending to serve alcohol at their function require a valid liquor license. Host Liquor Liability Insurance is required for all rentals with alcohol on the premises and must be submitted to the hall manager with the signed lease agreement no later than one month prior to the contracted date. This coverage can be obtained from any insurance agent.

 

Liability Insurance - is required by law. (Not negotiable) The County of Strathcona requires that all renters must purchase Host Liability Insurance coverage. Information will be provided to you on how to obtain the insurance when the rental agreement is established.

 

Before the rental & After the rental – The renter is responsible for setting up their function.

The renter is responsible for a full clean-up of the hall after the rental.  A checklist of duties will be supplied to each renter with the hall keys.  We provided you with brooms, mops, cleaning agents, and garbage bags.

 

Decorations – The Log Cabin allows for simple decorations.  Hooks have been established and are in place on the walls and bulkheads for decoration placement. NO external or no new hooks are allowed to be placed by the renter. NO holes can be made or NO DUCT/ PACKAGE tape can be used on any surfaces.   All decorations and adhesives MUST be removed by the renter otherwise a rate of $50/hr will be applied to the damage deposit for the removal of such.
